Tilburg is a city with plenty of room for sport and recreation. A few years ago the city was one of the cities to host the World Football Championships for professionals under 20. The football club Willem II and the ice hockey club the Tilburg Trappers are the city's two professional sports teams. And let's not forget about field hockey. Of course, there are also a great many amateur sports clubs. Tilburg has about 300 different sports clubs with a total of more than 100 sports fields. The BOTS foundation (supporting sports in Tilburg) helps the city's sports clubs and ensures that there are also more than enough facilities for the handicapped and the elderly.
The city also offers plenty of scope for those who prefer to go walking or cycling. There are many nature reserves and scenic areas around the city. There are woods so large that you can easily get lost in them, and breath-taking heaths and moors. You can get several interesting routes for walks and cycle rides at the Tourist Office. Or take a stroll through the National Park Loonse en Drunense Duinen, an oasis of peace and quiet. Or would you prefer the coolness of the pools of the Oisterwijkse Vennen?
Want a little more action? Visit one of the large amusement parks: the Efteling and Safari Park and Play-Land Beekse Bergen. Or drop in at the VVV Tourist Information Office. There you will find plenty of ideas for excursions and daytrips in and around Tilburg.
